WalletUncon Unsalon: Expression of Interest
Description
Register for this event to express your interest in co-facilitating the first WalletUncon Unsalon during the week of ETH Denver 2024.
This registration is not for bandwagon jumpers and lurkers. This registration is for people who want to help out and be active.
**Time, date and location are TBD:** The amount of interest we receive will determine the answers to those questions.
------------
**What is WalletUncon?**
WalletUncon is an event series dedicated to conversations between people who are making progress on designing, building and improving wallets. The first event was a 1 day unconference in Istanbul. You can read more at [https://walletuncon.org/](https://walletuncon.org/)

**What is a salon?**
A salon is a small social gathering for intimate discussions, hosted in someone’s home.
------------
**What is an unsalon?**
A salon that doesn’t happen in someone’s home.
------------
**How does it differ from an unconference?**
Glad you asked! It’s a new format we’re trying, but here’s the rough sketch.
**Things that differ...**
*1. It’s shorter*: We plan to cap it at 2 hours. We can have multiple conversations in parallel. And if we need, we’ll do extra days, also capped to 2 hours.
*2. It’s more informal:* There will be no “presentation”. There might not even be a dedicated room. There will just be a place and a prompt. And you’ll be free to branch into sub groups, wander off, or continue the conversation at the bar.
*3. No report out:* If you’ve been to an unconference, you’ll be accustomed to a report out at the end. We’ll still encourage those, and make online space available for a summary, but there will be no scheduled time for it, in the interests of keeping the structure loose.
**Things that are the same...**
*1. It’s about you — all the participants — participating:* Whether you want to help facilitate the conversation, lend your thoughts and perspectives to it, or help to scribe and digest it, the success of the event is your responsibility.
*2. Aim for actionable outcomes:* We should all be looking for ways to help or ask for help. That could mean better problem definitions, next steps for standards formation, or a sudden realization of the path forward. Try to find one new thing that’ll help you, and one new way you can help others.
*3. No egos, no stages, and no shills:* Plenty of other places to pitch your products this week. The unsalon ain’t one of ‘em.
