In Japan, ramen shops are very common and popular, and are sometimes referred to as ramen-ya or ramen-ten. The dish evolved from southern Chinese noodle dishes.
Ramen gained popularity in Japan, especially during food shortages following World War II. During the war was in fact considered illegal as it was seen as a luxury for eating out.
During my visit in Japan I was amazed, I spent hours in restaurants just watching people preparing food. Ramen is more than just a meal, it carries a deep-rooted cultural heritage, shaped by rituals and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
These are not just restaurants, but they reflects the culture and the traditions of this wonderful country.
